The final video asset gave us a clean, engaging visual tool to explain our platform in seconds across multiple markets. It achieved over 4 million views across our web properties.
Smoobu is an all-in-one vacation rental software that helps property owners and hosts manage their day-to-day operations from one platform.
It brings together reservations, calendar synchronization, guest communication, direct booking websites, and integrations with other tools, helping hosts manage multiple properties and booking channels from a single place.
Smoobu wanted to present its platform through a concise product video that showed how its different features work together for vacation rental hosts.
The Challenge
The challenge was not a lack of features. It was explaining how all of those features work together without turning it into a long list of software capabilities.
Smoobu needed a product-focused explainer that could quickly show how the platform fits into a host’s daily workflow.
The video also needed to work across multiple European markets, requiring localized versions for German, French, Spanish, and Italian.
The central question was simple: How do you explain a broad vacation rental platform in a way that feels simple to a host?
The Creative Approach
1. Narrative Structuring & Script Development
Smoobu started with a script that covered the platform’s main features and capabilities. Our team worked on the structure and wording to make the story easier to follow.
We built the script around a simple problem-solution flow:
- The Problem: Vacation rental hosts often deal with double bookings, multiple booking channels, and repetitive guest communication.
- The Solution: Smoobu brings these tasks together in one platform and helps automate much of the day-to-day work.
- The Outcome: The video showed how Smoobu can help hosts save time, manage their properties more efficiently, and keep everything in one place.
We also removed unnecessary technical language and shortened several sections so the key points could be understood quickly.
2. Storyboarding & Visual Planning

Once the script was finalized, we planned the visuals scene by scene.
The focus was on showing the situations that hosts deal with in their daily work and then connecting those situations to the relevant Smoobu features. We also planned the transitions between real-life scenarios, product interfaces, and animated graphics.
The storyboard gave the Smoobu team a clear view of how the script would translate into visuals before animation production started. This also helped us identify and resolve changes early in the process.
3. UI Design & Motion Graphics

The Smoobu interface was an important part of the video, so we focused on showing the product clearly without making the screens difficult to follow.
We cleaned up and recreated key UI elements from the platform, simplifying certain screens where needed and giving more visual focus to the features being discussed.
The animation combined the product interface with custom 2D graphics. For example, calendar synchronization, automated messages, and other product actions were shown through simple movements and visual cues rather than relying only on static screens.
This helped keep the product recognizable while making each feature easier to understand within the short runtime.
4. Voiceover & Multi-Language Versions
Smoobu also wanted the video to work across multiple markets, so we created localized versions in four languages:
- German
- Spanish
- French
- Italian
Each version required more than simply replacing the voiceover. We reviewed the timing of the narration against the animation and made adjustments where the translated scripts changed the length of a scene.
For the German and French versions, we went through additional review rounds to adjust voiceover pacing, tone, and pauses. This helped keep the timing and overall viewing experience consistent across the different language versions.
The Final Video
The final piece became a 90-second product explainer centered on one idea: making vacation rental management simpler.
The video takes viewers through the core Smoobu workflow, from reservation synchronization and guest communication to direct bookings and integrations.
Rather than explaining the platform through a long feature list, the video shows how those features come together to support the everyday work of a vacation rental host.
The closing message brings the story back to the central idea: “Smoobu. Being a host made simple.”
Results

The video became a key product communication asset for Smoobu, helping the brand explain its platform in a clear and accessible way across different markets.
By combining product UI, animation, and real-world scenarios, the video presented Smoobu’s features in a format that was easy for hosts to understand and follow.
Its reach extended across Smoobu’s website, landing pages, and international promotional channels, giving the company a reusable video asset for product communication and marketing.
- 4M+ views across digital channels
- 4 localized versions for European markets
- 90-second product explainer for Smoobu
- Complex SaaS workflow simplified into one visual story
From One Project to the Next

The first Smoobu video led to another opportunity to work together. Ahead of the launch of Smoobu Dynamic Pricing 2.0, the Smoobu team recently contacted us again to create a new video for the feature.
Their request came after the previous project, with the team specifically referring to the work we had done together and asking to collaborate on the upcoming launch.
No pitch. No comparison shopping. No "can you send us a few sample reels first.
Just a client who remembered the work, trusted the process, and came straight back the moment they had something new to explain.
That's the actual metric that matters here.
The Takeaway
For a product with multiple interconnected features, the challenge is often not explaining what each feature does. It is showing how the product fits into the user's workflow.
For Smoobu, we built the story around that workflow and used product UI, custom 2D animation, and localized voiceovers to communicate the platform across four European markets.
The result was a single product story that could be adapted across markets while keeping the Smoobu experience at the center.
