#We want to be straight with you before you read a single stat on this page.
Most "industry data" on video marketing is recycled. Someone cites a study, someone else cites that person, and eventually a number like "videos increase conversion by 80%" gets repeated so many times it becomes an unquestioned truth, even though nobody can trace it back to an actual business that measured it.
This isn't that. It is built from:
- Real SaaS client engagements
- Measurable business outcomes
- Multi-video production systems across growth stages
Everything on this page comes from our real client work. Real briefs, real launches, real outcomes that we watched happen, sometimes in real time, sometimes in an excited message at 2am from a founder who couldn't believe what just happened.
This is not theoretical insight. It is observed performance across real SaaS environments. Let's dive in.
#Key SaaS video statistics
The twelve numbers people ask us about most, in one place. Each one is unpacked further down the page, and our companion report breaks down what 1,000+ SaaS explainer videos have in common.
Post-launch demo requests rose 14% to 78% across evaluated B2B engagements, with a median lift of 32% in the first quarter.
A 90-second hero explainer lifted a mid-market enterprise SaaS landing page conversion rate by up to 34% within one month.
Three 30-second in-app micro-videos cut a fintech platform's onboarding drop-off by 38%.
A targeted outbound sales video drove a 45% increase in qualified pipeline for a cybersecurity firm within 90 days.
Videos under 90 seconds hold 74% viewer retention through the 60-second value-proposition mark across our portfolio.
Clients who embed videos in post-discovery follow-ups report deals closing 12 to 16 days faster.
Landing pages with explainer videos gain an average 1 minute 40 seconds of time on page and a 27% median reduction in bounce rate.
Animated video ads average a 31% lower cost per acquisition than static graphics in LinkedIn B2B A/B tests.
TheLevel.ai improved demo requests by 80%, the largest single-video mid-funnel lift we have recorded.
CaseCade reported 100x ROI on a single explainer video, with traffic growth sustained after launch.
1,350+ videos produced for 650+ companies across 18+ industries since January 2015.
Deliveries longer than six weeks fell from 35% (2015 to 2023) to 5% (2023 to 2026); 16% of recent videos ship in under a week.

Where the data comes from
This page draws on What a Story's internal production records: 1,350+ videos delivered to 650+ companies between January 2015 and July 2026, of which 1,315 are categorised in our analysis dataset.
Outcome metrics (conversion, demo requests, retention, ad performance) come from the minority of clients who share their analytics with us, roughly 1 in 20, combined with structured estimates from our creative directors and project records. Client-specific results are self-reported by those clients.
Aggregates are therefore best-effort estimates rather than audited measurements, and we publish medians and ranges instead of single point claims wherever the data allows. Figures are refreshed as new client data reaches us.
These numbers have turned into a signal of pattern recognition. We have stopped guessing what works. We have seen almost every mistake a SaaS company can make with video, and we have seen what happens when they get it right. That accumulated experience informs everything on this page.
The competitors who have tried to copy our positioning over the years? They can list services. They can show a portfolio. What they can't fake is what you learn from being wrong 200 times and then figuring out why.
Pattern recognition for SaaS videos is now in our DNA.
#Which industries the 1,315 videos come from
Enterprise SaaS leads the dataset, but the spread matters more than the winner: the patterns on this page hold across AI, fintech, healthcare and fifteen other verticals, not just one niche.

A further 216 videos (16.4%) are not industry-specific: event films, talking-head series and B2C marketing work.
#Funding and investment impact, with videos that drive clarity
$300M
Series C funding
Supported by strong product storytelling that helped investors and enterprise buyers grasp the scope of the platform quickly.

$39.4M

Both outcomes tied to the same video-led clarity in their positioning.
$26M

Alongside improved user understanding and a measurable improvement in retention, showing that video's impact on trust extends across both the investor conversation and the customer conversation.

$15M
Funding
Following their video launch.
The pattern here is consistent: when a company becomes clearly understood, it becomes easier to sell both to customers and to investors. We have been in conversations with SaaS founders who separated these two goals, investor storytelling versus market storytelling, but these examples show that the same video that helps a buyer understand your product in 90 seconds is doing the same job for an investor who has 20 pitches in their inbox.
#Conversion and signups, with videos that communicate value faster
+55%
SIGNUPS
Acquired first Fortune 500 clients. Opening line built from real buyer language.
2,000+
NEW SIGNUPS
Simultaneously reduced training time by 50%. One video. Two distinct outcomes.

1,500+
NEW CUSTOMERS
Built a $12K MRR stream directly attributable to their video content.

$20K
SALES IN 3 DAYS
Generated within 3 days of launching their video, with no large campaign behind it.
Beyond individual wins, the portfolio-level picture points the same way. A mid-market enterprise SaaS client saw their primary landing page conversion rate climb up to 34% within one month, simply by placing a 90-second explainer video in the hero section. An emerging fintech platform reduced user onboarding drop-off by 38% with a sequence of three 30-second in-app educational micro-videos. And a cybersecurity firm reported a 45% increase in qualified pipeline within 90 days of equipping their outbound SDR team with a targeted product-marketing video for cold outreach.
The recurring insight across all of these results is simple: users who understand a business faster convert faster. Not because video is magic, but because most SaaS websites and sales pages are written from the inside out. They describe the product in the language the team uses internally, for a buyer who has never heard those words before.
A well-built video forces you to flip that. You start with the buyer's frustration, not your feature list. When you get that right, signups follow.
#Demo requests and sales pipeline jump, with videos that drive decision making
TheLevel.ai improved demo requests by 80%, the single largest mid-funnel lift we have seen from one video deployment.
HighRadius and Elisity both saw up to a 30% increase in demo bookings following video implementation.
Kyvos achieved a 20% uplift in demo requests after adding a structured explainer to their homepage.

Mid-funnel is where SaaS video consistently delivers its highest ROI, and it is the area most teams underinvest in. Most demo requests come from buyers who are already broadly aware of your category.
The question isn't whether they know you exist. It's whether they trust you enough to give you 30 minutes of their time.
A well-structured demo video answers that question before the call happens. The 80% lift at TheLevel.ai wasn't magic.
It was what happens when a buyer arrives at a call already convinced, rather than arriving to be convinced.
#Engagement and retention, with videos that stop the scroll
Protego Health achieved a 90% engagement rate on their video. That is well above what the industry averages for B2B content.
Upsend reached 90% view-through rates. Nearly every viewer who started the video finished it.
GetAds maintained 80% average watch time across their video content.
Elisity increased website retention by 10x after adding video to their homepage. The same section that held the video was driving visitors deeper into the rest of the site.

Portfolio-wide retention benchmark
Across our portfolio, videos kept under 90 seconds hold a 74% viewer retention rate straight through the core value proposition at the 60-second mark.
Ninety percent engagement is not a normal number for B2B video. The industry average sits somewhere between 30 and 50 percent, and that's being generous.
When we see numbers like Protego's or Upsend's, we look at the opening. Every time, without exception, the video that hits 80-90% engagement is a video where the first eight seconds made the viewer think: this is about me.
The videos that average 30% typically open with a company name, a tagline and an abstract visual. The brain registers "corporate video" and leaves. The opening is the entire game.
#ROI and efficiency, with videos that empower your sales teams
Conversion rates increased by up to 50% across multiple client engagements where video was placed at the right funnel stage.
Cloudcannon
Achieved 10x ROI within the first month of their video launch.
CaseCade
Reported 100x ROI with sustained traffic growth continuing after the initial launch period.
TheLevel.ai
Reduced PPC spend while increasing conversions. The video was pre-qualifying traffic that had previously required paid retargeting to convert.
One hundred times ROI. We still use that number in conversations and watch people pause. But here's the thing: CaseCade didn't get 100x because they spent a tiny amount on the video.
They got it because the video was placed at the right moment in the funnel, built around the right outcome, and did the qualifying work that had previously required salespeople to do all the heavy lifting.
The founders who think about video as a cost ask "how much does this video cost?" The founders who get 100x ROI ask "what is it worth to have my pipeline pre-qualified before a single sales call?" If you want the first question answered anyway, our AI quote tool does it in about 60 seconds.
Think of video as an assist that helps your strikers play their best game, and you will know how regularly you win.
#Sales velocity and acquisition efficiency
Video's effect doesn't end at the demo request. Across clients who instrument their funnel, the same assets keep working after the first call and inside paid campaigns.

Animated video versus static graphics in LinkedIn B2B ad campaigns.
The CPA number deserves a second look. In A/B tests our clients ran on LinkedIn, the same offer with an animated video asset acquired customers at 31% lower cost than with static graphics. The video wasn't just decorating the ad. It was doing qualification work before the click.
#Operational impact, with videos that are more than just a marketing tool
Video's impact doesn't stop at marketing. Inside enterprise SaaS companies the same production system shows up in training, onboarding and internal communication.
Used video to train 10,000+ employees, replacing slow, expensive instructor-led sessions with video content that could be deployed at scale globally.
Reduced onboarding and training time by 50% using video-led onboarding that made new users feel capable before they touched the product.

Improved internal engagement during milestone communication across a distributed enterprise workforce, using video to drive alignment without all-hands fatigue.
This section tends to surprise people, because the most common assumption is that video is a marketing tool. It is. But inside enterprise SaaS companies it's also an operations tool, a training tool and an internal communication tool.
HighRadius training 10,000 employees with video isn't a marketing story. It's a cost reduction story, a consistency story and a scale story.
If you're only thinking about video for your homepage, you're limiting the possibilities video can open up.
#The 3 things that set apart every high-performing video
After 1,350+ videos, the differences come down to this.
Clarity first.
If someone can watch your video and still not know exactly who it's for and what changes for them, the video is not done yet. It doesn't matter how good it looks. Clarity is a business requirement, a design principle and the bare minimum you owe your users.
Strategy before production.
The brief is where the outcome is determined. We have watched beautiful videos fail because the brief was wrong, and simple videos punch far above their weight because someone spent real time on the strategy. Strategy fuels creative choices and ties everything together.
One outcome.
One outcome, built into every second of the video. The companies that try to use one video for everything get a video that does nothing particularly well. The videos that succeed hammer down on the one outcome they want, whether that's generating signups, increasing demo bookings or improving onboarding numbers.
#Standard production benchmarks
Delivery speed, then and now
Share of projects by time from brief to delivery
Since 2023, 67 premium videos have been produced in under 7 days, fully human-made.
The 60-90 second benchmark isn't arbitrary. It's what 10 years of watching viewer behaviour has shown us. Under 60 seconds you typically sacrifice the story: you get the what but lose the why. Over 90 seconds, drop-off starts eating your conversion.
There are exceptions for complex enterprise products where buyers are highly motivated. But for most SaaS companies, especially at the awareness and evaluation stage, 60-90 seconds is the discipline that forces the clarity your video needs.
The delivery data tells its own story. In our first eight years, one project in three ran past six weeks. Since 2023, only one in twenty does, and one in six ships in under a week, without handing the work to AI slop. Production systems compound the same way video results do.
#The numbers at a glance
Named results are shared with client permission; you can read many of them in their own words on our wall of stories. Anonymised rows are clients who shared data but not their name.
#The thing nobody wants to say about SaaS video
Most SaaS companies treat video as a one-time deliverable. They commission it, they launch it, they move on. And then they wonder why it didn't do more.
The companies that get outsized results treat video the way they treat their best salespeople. They put it in the right place, they give it a clear job, they measure how it performs, and they iterate.
In today's world video is not a project. It's a critical part of your information architecture.
We know it sounds like we're trying to sell more retainers. We're not. Some of our best work was a single video for a client we never heard from again, because that video did what it needed to do and the company grew. But that was years ago, and the times have changed. Videos are now an integral part of every ecosystem we build for.
The highest-performing companies we've worked with, the ones with the 100x ROI stories, the overnight revenue spikes, the funding rounds, all think about video the same way.
And we have got them the video that delivers.
#Frequently asked questions
How much can a SaaS explainer video increase demo requests?
Across our evaluated B2B engagements, post-launch demo requests rose between 14% and 78%, with a median increase of 32% within the first quarter. The largest single-video lift we have recorded is 80%, at TheLevel.ai.
What is the ideal length for a SaaS explainer video?
60 to 90 seconds. Videos kept under 90 seconds hold a 74% viewer retention rate through the 60-second mark across our portfolio, long enough to make the argument and short enough that viewers finish it.
How long does SaaS video production take?
Most projects take 3 to 6 weeks from brief to delivery. Since 2023, 63% of our projects deliver in 4 to 6 weeks, 16% in 2 to 4 weeks, and 16% in under a week; only 5% run longer than 6 weeks.
Do videos improve landing page conversion?
In our client data, landing pages featuring a core explainer video gain an average of 1 minute 40 seconds of time on page and a 27% median reduction in bounce rate. One mid-market enterprise SaaS client lifted their primary landing page conversion rate by up to 34% within a month of adding a 90-second hero explainer.
Are animated video ads more cost-efficient than static ads?
In A/B tests our clients ran on LinkedIn B2B campaigns, animated video assets averaged a 31% lower cost per acquisition than static graphics for the same offer.
